Enjoy several days in the company of majestic gray whales in Baja California’s Magdalena Bay, one of the best places in the world to encounter gray whale mothers and their calves. On this compact trip, we explore aboard the only expedition ship in the region small and nimble enough to anchor inside the bay’s sheltered waters, giving you unparalleled access to this busy whale nursery. Set out in local pangas for up-close encounters with these curious cetaceans, kayak mangrove forests and hike desert islands and look for pelicans and ospreys while soaking up the sun on pristine beaches.

Inclusions:

        • 5 nights aboard the National Geographic Sea Bird
        • 5 breakfasts, 4 lunches and 5 dinners; beer, wine, cocktails and spirits (with certain super premium wines and liquors available for purchase) and 24-hour access to snack, premium coffees and teas, non-alcoholic beverages and filtered water.

          Below are physical expectations required to fully enjoy the journey. We, and the tour operator, are happy to discuss the physical needs of this trip to ensure the best fit. Should you reserve space, be sure to share with the tour operator physical accommodations you may need i.e. Cpap machine, hearing aid for listening device, special medicine, etc.

          • Consistent amount of walking most days, about 2-4 miles per day
          • Trip features long touring days and may include travel via various modes of transportation.
          • Travelers should be able to board without assistance as well as stand and walk over uneven terrain including cobblestones for extended periods of time.
